Toya Stewart Downey is a former newspaper reporter who moved into communications, marketing and public relations work after working as a journalist for 12 years. She has worked in two large Minnesota school districts serving as a cabinet member who led cross-functional teams that were primarily focused on serving students, staff and families.
As a communications professional in PreK-12 settings for more than a decade she led award-winning teams and has a deep understanding of how districts function.
Stewart Downey graduated from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Rhetoric and African American Studies. She has a Master of Arts Degree in Health Journalism, with a minor in Public Health.
