The Chief Academic Officer accelerates learning for every APS student, every day by advocating relentlessly for and supporting the people, practices and policies that drive academic success. The Chief Academic Officer is a member of the superintendent’s leadership team and provides administrative and oversight in developing, achieving, and maintaining educational programs and services for all students in alignment with the Strategic Plan and Blueprint APS.
The Chief Academic Officer directs the operation, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of instructional programs and staff in the Division of Equity in Learning and is responsible for: curriculum and instruction; professional development; student success; assessment; cultural and linguistic diversity; career and innovation; college and career success; exceptional student services; multi-tiered systems of support, both instructional and behavioral; family engagement; centralized registration; gifted and talented education; early childhood education; and P-20 Learning Communities.
