WHO WE ARE...
The Colfax-Mingo Community School District came into existence in 1985, when the schools of Colfax and Mingo consolidated. The district is located on I-80, just 20 miles east of Des Moines.
Today the district proudly serves approximately 740 students. PK-6 students attend the Colfax-Mingo Elementary School located in Colfax. The Jr/Sr High School serves grades 7-12, also located in Colfax. Colfax-Mingo High School was recently recognized by US News and World Report as one of the best high schools in the state, earning a bronze medal for student performance on state-required tests and how well students are prepared for post-secondary experiences.
WE ARE SO MUCH MORE...
The District is a member of the South Iowa Cedar League and offers a variety of extra-curricular activities in both clubs and athletics.
Thousands of dollars of scholarship assistance are awarded to CM graduates each year for post-secondary education. Many of these scholarships are bequeathed by former students and/or residents of the communities.
WE ARE NOT DONE...
School facilities are a strong priority with the communities, as evidenced by the completion of an addition/remodel project for the high school in 2006 and the elementary in 1996.
The District monitors budget and facility commitments via a Long-Term Facility Maintenance Plan. In addition, the District has retained the DLR Group to assist in the planning and development of a Facility Master Plan that will provide the amenities to serve the students and surrounding communities into the future.
